Pioneering Prescription Monitoring Information Exchange (PIMX)
In addition to meeting the IT needs of some of the nation’s top companies in the private sector, Optimum Technology now helps protect over 45 million citizens in 12 different states. One of our biggest challenges came in trying to help states share information to effectively combat the diversion of prescription drugs across jurisdictional lines. We helped create and implement the new standard that would enable states to share information and help close the gaps in interstate reporting that were being exploited by criminals. The result was the Prescription Monitoring Information Exchange (PMIX).
Optimum Technology was one of the originators of the concept in 2006-2007 and served as one of the lead technicians in building the pilot program in collaboration with the Department of Justice. In addition, we:
- Chaired the Global Justice Data XML standards committee
- Currently helping implement the first PMIX data repository
- The only company to have an PMIX adaptor to allow information to be shared between states and Prescription Monitoring Programs using the PMIX HUB
Our goal was to help close the net on offenders, but somewhere along the way, our innovative approach captured the attention of the eC3 Excellence Awards. That’s the kind of dedication we put into every project — especially yours.
